Palace Of Westminster

Situated next to Big Ben, the Palace of Westminster was built as we see it today in the 19th Century by Sir Charles Barry. Designed for parliamentary use, all three elements of Parliament, the Sovereign’s Throne, the Lord’s Chamber and the Commons Chamber, are linked in a straight line.

When visiting the historical attraction, visitors should note that airport-style searches are in place in the Houses of Parliament for security purposes, so plan for this in your schedule.
On Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, the queue to get in can exceed 45 minutes. Visitors should also note that there are items that are prohibited within the premises. They could be surrendered at the entrance and reclaimed upon leaving.
